Lecturer - Grade 12 For appointment to this position the applicants must have: -
i. An earned PhD or equivalent degree qualification in the relevant field from an accredited and recognized university. Or
ii. Have a Master's degree qualification in (special cases) with 3 years’ University teaching experience or research in relevant area.
iii. Registered with the relevant professional body (where applicable).
iv. Have a minimum of twenty-four (24) publications points of which at least sixteen (16) should be from refereed journal papers;
v. Must show evidence of community service.
vi. Persons from research institutions, practice/industry must meet the minimum point requirements for their respective subcategory to qualify for appointment.
Teaching: Instructs students in a specific subject, which can include delivering lectures, leading seminars, and creating lesson plans and assignments. Curriculum development: Works with colleagues to develop or modify the curriculum for degree or certification programs. Student assessment: Grades papers, tests, and other work to assess student progress. Student advising: Provides academic and professional guidance to students. Research: Conducts research projects and publishes scholarly work in their field.
Subject matter expertise: Deep knowledge and passion for the subject are fundamental for effective lecturing. Communication: This includes excellent speaking to explain complex topics, but also superior listening to understand student questions and feedback. Organization and planning: Lecturers must be organized to plan lessons, manage their workload, and prepare for classes. Interpersonal skills: Building rapport, being approachable, and fostering a sense of community are vital for student engagement and a positive learning environment.
