Ideal Candidates:
Organised, detail-oriented, and enthusiastic individuals with a genuine interest in libraries, literacy, and working with children. Candidates should be comfortable using technology and library management systems, able to work collaboratively within a school environment, and passionate about encouraging a love of reading, learning, and responsible information use.
Qualifications and Minimum Requirements:
- Diploma in Library and Information Science or a related field
- Competence in ICT and Library Management Systems
- Strong organisational and time-management skills
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work collaboratively within a school environment
- Ability to work positively with children and encourage a love of reading and learning
- Previous experience in a school or academic library setting is an added advantage
- Current police clearance/background check
- Certified copies of academic and professional documents
- At least two professional references
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist with the daily circulation of library materials, including issuing, returning, and shelving books
- Maintain an organised, welcoming, and engaging library environment
- Support students and staff in locating and using library resources
- Assist with cataloguing, labelling, and processing new library materials
- Support library lessons, reading activities, and literacy programmes
- Assist with school library events, including book fairs, author visits, reading challenges, and Wild Wednesdays
- Promote responsible use of library resources and digital citizenship
- Maintain accurate library records and assist with inventory management
- Prepare displays, bulletin boards, and reading promotion activities
- Collaborate with teachers and staff to support student learning and research activities
- Contribute to a positive culture of curiosity, literacy, inclusion, and lifelong learning
- Uphold Woodland Star’s mission, values, and commitment to student well-being
