The overall purpose of this job is to review, interpret and report on radiological images in order provide accurate diagnosis on patients’ examinations in line with established protocols and the Hospital’s protocols.
ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Evaluate patients’ medical histories to identify potential risks from imaging procedures; recommend alternative techniques where appropriate.
- Explain imaging processes to patients and address relevant requirements.
- Perform and interpret x-ray, ultrasound, mammogram, CT and MRI examinations, providing technical guidance for diagnosis and treatment.
- Guide radiology staff in image-guided diagnostic procedures per established protocols.
- Interpret diagnostic imaging results to determine accurate diagnoses.
- Discuss findings and diagnoses with referring physicians.
- Compile diagnostic reports on test results.
- Respond to emergency situations (e.g., resuscitations, bleeding, infections) in line with medical protocols.
- Participate in radiology-related research and departmental protocol development/review.
- Perform any other duties assigned by the supervisor.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- Master’s degree in Radiology from a recognized institution.
- Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery degree (MBChB) from a recognized institution.
- Must be registered with the Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentist Council and hold a valid practicing licence.
- Minimum of 3 years practicing experience in Radiology.
