Geothermal Development Company (GDC) is a wholly-owned state corporation in the Republic of Kenya. Established in 2008 following the unbundling of the energy sector, GDC operates within the generation sub-sector with the mandate to fast-track the development of geothermal resources in Kenya.
Position Overview
Grade: GDC 3
Reference Number: GDC/HRM/CS/CC/MCC/01/2026
Job Purpose
The Manager – Corporate Communications will design and execute GDC’s public relations, brand building, crisis communications, and internal stakeholder engagement programs to maintain a positive corporate reputation.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement a robust Corporate Communications and Public Relations strategy.
- Act as GDC's primary media liaison officer, coordinates press releases, press conferences, and media training.
- Oversee the content creation and design of GDC's newsletters, annual reports, brochures, website, and social media channels.
- Lead corporate brand management, ensuring alignment of visual standards across all locations and projects.
- Formulate and implement crisis communication plans to manage organizational reputational risks.
- Coordinate corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiatives and public-consultation events in geothermal project areas.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Communication, Public Relations, Journalism, or Corporate Affairs.
- Professional membership in a relevant body (e.g., PRSK, MSK) is highly required.
- Minimum of 8–10 years of professional experience in public relations or media management, with at least 3 years in a senior/supervisory role.
- Proven track record in media relations, brand management, and crisis communication.
- Outstanding verbal, written, presentation, and editorial skills.
