Geothermal Development Company (GDC) is a wholly-owned state corporation in the Republic of Kenya. Established in 2008 following the unbundling of the energy sector, GDC operates within the generation sub-sector with the mandate to fast-track the development of geothermal resources in Kenya.
Position Overview
Grade: GDC 3
Reference Number: GDC/HRM/FI/TI/MTI/01/2026
Job Purpose
The Manager – Treasury & Investment will manage GDC's corporate liquidity, capital structure, debt portfolios, foreign exchange exposures, and investment activities to optimize capital efficiency and secure funding for geothermal projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and execute GDC's treasury, cash management, and investment strategies.
- Monitor liquidity levels and forecast cash flows to ensure funds are available for operational and capital expenditures.
- Manage relationships with commercial banks, development financial institutions (DFIs), and international funding agencies.
- Analyze investment opportunities for surplus funds and oversee debt management, including loan agreements and interest rate structures.
- Assess and mitigate financial risks, including currency exchange rates, interest rate fluctuations, and counterparty credit risks.
- Ensure compliance with Public Finance Management (PFM) regulations and state corporate guidelines on investments.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or Business Administration.
- Professional qualification in Accounting (CPA-K, ACCA) or Finance (CFA) in good standing.
- Minimum of 8–10 years of experience in corporate treasury, investment banking, or financial services, with 3 years at a senior/supervisory level.
- Deep knowledge of treasury management systems (TMS), banking portals, and the Public Finance Management (PFM) Act.
- Strong financial modeling, negotiations, and analytical capabilities.
