Role Context
Reporting to the Senior Manager – Converged Network Support, the role holder is responsible for ensuring Safaricom network (LAN, WI-FI, WAN, Internet, Security Perimeters), IP Telephony and Video are working as required to support the business.
Responsibilities
- Uphold the company code of conduct, policies and procedures, ensuring integrity and accountability in every aspect of your work.
- All employees have a responsibility to adhere to safety, health, and wellbeing policies, guidelines and procedures in all actions and decisions.
- Manage and set priorities for the design, maintenance, development, and evaluation of all infrastructure systems including LANs, WANs, Wireless and Internet.
- Manage the Local Area Network within the offices, · Manage the Wide Area Network to the branch offices including the Retail Shops and Care Centers · Manage the Wireless Network within the offices
- Manage the Internet Perimeter and associated systems
- Manage and operate Cisco Unified Communications environment
- Manage and operate Video Conferencing environment and monitor trends and manage Capacity.
- Manage the network infrastructure within the Colocation and Data Center facilities
- Plan and evaluate existing network systems and perform design and installation, configuration, load balancing and ongoing maintenance of network devices.
- Enforce IS security policies on the Extranet and Internet perimeters
- Manage Secure Remote access for staff members, business partners, Contractors and system integrators · Follow through to ensure design parameters are adhered to at implementation.
- Provide direction and recommendations to enterprise business units on project related solutions and services. · Ensure best buy in liaison with supply chain.
- Ensure projects delivered to budget and time.
- Follow through to ensure design parameters are adhered to at implementation. · Ensure CAPEX and NOPEX savings by use of NGN equipment/latest approved technologies.
- Develop the team through learning initiatives, mentoring & coaching
- Team Engagement though constant feedback & communication, performance discussions
- Drive attainment of efficiencies through automation of processes/activities.
Qualifications
- BSc. Computing, engineering or similar related degree.
- Project management Certification
- ITIL Foundations, CCNP, CCIE
- 6 years experience in a networked and dynamic environment, with 2 years at a management level
- Must possess hands-on experience with a wide range of Cisco LAN and WAN platforms and the Cisco IOS
- Ability to handle multiple projects and tasks, make decisions and solve problems while under pressure
- Excellent communication analytical thinking skills
- Appreciation of basic accounting knowledge preferred.
