Description

We are looking for a senior nutrition professional to join the Human Development practice on a fixed-term basis (maternity cover). This is a leadership role: you will take responsibility for the nutrition portfolio, lead client engagements, manage analytical teams, ensure the quality and strategic direction of outputs, and play an active role in winning new work.

Our nutrition portfolio spans the full range of questions that governments, donors, and global initiatives need rigorous analysis to answer: What does the evidence say about which interventions work at scale? How should a country finance its nutrition strategy? How should a national stunting reduction package be structured and costed? Where is public spending going, and is it reaching the right people? The work draws on strategy development, quantitative financing analysis, policy research, programme evaluations, and evidence syntheses.

You will:

  • Lead and manage nutrition workstreams. Take ownership of analytical and advisory project components — from scoping through to delivery. Set the analytical agenda, manage timelines, and ensure outputs are both technically strong and accessible to senior audiences.
  • Manage client relationships. Act as primary point of contact for senior clients, including UNICEF, GAIN, the World Food Programme, national governments, and multilateral development banks. Lead working sessions, technical reviews, and presentations.
  • Oversee core analytical products. Costing models, public expenditure analyses, financing gap analyses, investment cases, policy research, programme evaluations, evidence syntheses — translated into high-quality reports, slides, and policy briefs fit for senior audiences.
  • Drive business development. Take an active role in growing the nutrition portfolio — leading and contributing to proposals, identifying new opportunities, and building and maintaining relationships with existing and prospective clients. You will bring both technical credibility and commercial instinct to business development, drawing on your networks in the global nutrition and development community.
  • Manage and develop team members. Provide technical oversight, feedback, and line management to analysts and associates. Build analytical skills across the team and uphold Genesis output standards.
  • Bring sectoral depth. Apply your understanding of nutrition systems, public health, and health economics to ensure analysis reflects how decisions actually get made within government and donor systems.

For the right candidate, there may be potential for this role to continue beyond the fixed term, subject to mutual agreement and ongoing business needs.

Requirements

You are likely to have:

  • Master's degree (or equivalent) in Public Health Nutrition, Health Economics, Economics, Development Economics, or a closely related field.
  • 8+ years' professional experience in nutrition, health, or a related development field, with a substantial portion in consulting or advisory work
  • A track record of leading research or analytical workstreams — financing analysis, policy research, programme evaluation, or evidence synthesis — to high professional standards in a consulting context.
  • Demonstrated experience leading a consulting team or project portfolio, including responsibility for delivery, quality, and team performance.
  • Strong understanding of the economics of consulting, including project management, budgeting, and revenue targets.
  • Solid working knowledge of nutrition and/or health financing, including the policy and programmatic landscape in low- and middle-income countries.
  • Proven ability to build and maintain senior relationships with governments, multilateral agencies, bilateral donors, UN agencies, and foundations.
  • A track record of contributing to or leading business development, including proposal writing and client cultivation.
  • Experience managing or developing junior professional staff.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Familiarity with the global nutrition architecture (SUN, N4G, Power of Nutrition, GFF, UNICEF, WFP).
  • Excellent written and verbal English; French is an advantage.
