Responsibilities or duties
- Teach the principles of music including music theory, history, composition, and practical performance in various musical genres.
- Supervise students in vocal and instrumental performance, ensemble participation, and music production.
- Conduct research on ethnomusicology, music pedagogy, and the role of music in cultural identity and social cohesion.
- Train students in music arrangement, conducting, and the use of music technology and recording equipment.
- Develop teaching materials on music appreciation, world music traditions, and contemporary musical developments.
- Guide students in understanding the integration of music with other subjects such as history, culture, and drama.
- Collaborate with cultural institutions, music festivals, and community organizations on music performances and projects.
- Setting, moderating, invigilating and marking examinations.
Qualifications or requirements (e.g., education, skills)
i. Applicants should hold a PhD or a master's degree qualification in a relevant field from a recognized academic institution; and possess vast teaching or industry experience at undergraduate/postgraduate levels.
ii. Applicants must have served as a Lecturer or equivalent industry experience in a university or institution recognized by the Senate of JOOUST.
iii. Demonstrate potential for university teaching and/or research;
iv. At least two (2) years teaching experience in a university.
v. Master's holders registered for PhD may be considered
vi. Be registered with the relevant professional body as required by the field of specialization.
Experience needed
At least two (2) years teaching experience in a university.
