Background
The United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) is the leading environmental authority in the United Nations system. It sets the global environmental agenda, promotes the coherent implementation of the environmental dimension of sustainable development within the UN system and serves as an authoritative advocate for the global environment.
Responsibilities
The consultant will be responsible for the following tasks:
- Develop a comprehensive CEO endorsement request package for the Ecuador CBIT II Project.
- Conduct research and gather relevant information to support the package.
- Draft and edit all necessary documents, ensuring clarity, accuracy, and adherence to UNEP guidelines.
- Liaise with relevant stakeholders to obtain necessary approvals and endorsements.
- Ensure timely submission of the package.
Qualifications and Experience
The ideal candidate will possess:
- Advanced university degree (Master’s or equivalent) in environmental science, environmental management, international development, or a related field.
- Proven experience in developing project proposals and funding requests, particularly for international organizations.
- Strong understanding of climate change mitigation and adaptation concepts, and capacity building initiatives.
- Excellent writing, editing, and communication skills in English. Knowledge of Spanish is an asset.
- Experience working with UN agencies or similar international organizations is desirable.
- At least 5 years of relevant professional experience.
