Project Description
Tujenge Jamii is an award led by Deloitte and Touche LLP. The core vision of Tujenge Jamii is to create a county owned, county led, and county managed integrated platform for delivery of life saving HIV, Women & Children, Water Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) and Nutrition services, with close collaboration between health facilities and communities and in line with the GHSD PEPFAR limited waiver guidance. The project is working in Baringo, Kajiado, Laikipia, Nakuru & Samburu counties: In Nakuru county, the project is implementing HIV prevention, Care and Treatment Services, Women’s & Children, WASH and Nutrition, while in Baringo, Kajiado, Laikipia and Samburu counties, the project is implementing HIV prevention, Care and Treat interventions.
Tujenge Jamii’s objectives are to:
- Increase access and demand for quality HIV prevention services.
- Increase access and demand for quality HIV treatment services; and
- Increase access and demand for quality Women’s & Children, nutrition, and WASH services.
Position Summary
The Nurse will be responsible for providing clinical HIV services to clients in facilities including pediatric and adult HIV care and treatment, TB/HIV, and PMTCT. They will be responsible for working closely with other service providers to ensure that the quality of care and support is sustained as defined by the Ministry of Health (MOH) service quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide quality clinical HIV services to clients at the Comprehensive Care Centre (CCC)/ antiretroviral treatment (ART)/ maternal and child health (MCH), and integrated outpatient settings, as per the national guidelines and standards.
- Support other service providers in the health facility by recommending treatment and care for the patients with advanced HIV disease, opportunistic infections, initiation of antiretroviral treatment (ART) in accordance with the MOH guidelines.
- Mentor other service providers in CCC/MCH/TB and OPD integrated sites attending to HIV-infected adults, children and pregnant or breastfeeding women.
- Liaise with other project staff working in the community to address issues of appointment management, defaulter tracing, HIV prevention and social determinants of health to mitigate the impact of those infected and affected by HIV.
- Strengthen linkages and referrals within and between health facilities.
- Ensure quality of care for all patients seeking services.
- Ensure the documentation of appropriate services rendered to patients is done in the relevant service registers and electronic medical records (EMR).
- Support HIV/TB and HIV/MNCH service integration.
- Strengthen data reviews and use for decision making.
- Participate in HIV/T client’s case reviews in both in-patient and outpatient settings
Qualifications:
- Diploma or Degree in Nursing (KRCHN).
- Must be registered by the Nursing Council of Kenya.
- Must have a current practicing license.
- Has demonstrated training and competence in HIV Prevention, Care & Treatment/PMTCT will have added advantage.
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience with direct involvement in patient care especially in HIV Prevention, Care & Treatment/PMTCT.
- Competent in development and implementation of work plans, monitoring and evaluation of activities and report writing.
- Computer literate, particularly in the use of MS Office.
- Proficiency in both written and spoken English and Kiswahili.
- Ability to conceptualize and understand program needs.
