Performance & Restructuring - Senior Associate

As a Senior Associate in the Performance & Restructuring team, you will play a pivotal role in advising clients during high‑pressure and high‑impact situations. You will support and lead workstreams across restructuring, turnaround, insolvency, and performance improvement engagements. This role requires strong analytical capabilities, commercial acumen, excellent communication skills, and the ability to manage multiple priorities within tight timelines.
You will work closely with senior stakeholders, contribute to the development of practical solutions, and help clients achieve stability and long‑term value.
Key Responsibilities
Client Advisory & Analysis
Conduct diagnostic assessments of underperforming or distressed businesses.
Identify root causes of financial and operational challenges.
Prepare independent business reviews (IBRs), turnaround strategies, and restructuring plans.
Perform detailed business performance evaluations and scenario analyses.
Financial & Operational Restructuring
Develop and review financial models for cash flow forecasting, scenario planning, and restructuring purposes.
Support debt advisory and refinancing strategies.
Advise on capital structure optimization and stakeholder negotiations.
Deliver operational restructuring projects, including cost optimization, process improvement, and working capital management.
Insolvency & Distressed Solutions
Assist in formal insolvency processes such as administration, liquidation, and receivership.
Support contingency planning and options analysis for distressed businesses.
Ensure compliance with Kenyan insolvency regulations and PwC methodologies.
Project Management & Delivery
Lead assigned workstreams and ensure timely, high‑quality deliverables.
Coordinate with cross-functional teams across Deals, Assurance, Tax, and Consulting.
Prepare high-quality reports, presentations, and client recommendations.
Team Leadership & Development
Mentor and support junior team members.
Contribute to knowledge sharing and capability development within the practice.
Promote collaboration and uphold PwC values.
Business Development
Support the preparation of proposals and pursuit materials.
Identify opportunities for additional services during engagements.
Build and maintain strong client relationships.
Education
Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field.
Professional accounting qualification required (CPA, ACCA, ACA, ICAEW or equivalent).
Minimum years of experience required
3–5 years’ experience in restructuring, insolvency, turnaround advisory, corporate finance, or performance improvement.
Experience in a professional services environment or financial institution is an added advantage.
