County Government of Kisumu invites applications from suitably qualified, motivated and pro- active individuals to fill vacancies in the following position:
Responsibilities or duties
(a) Duties and responsibilities at this level will entail:- An officer at this level will report to Chief Pharmacist / Hospital Medical Superintendent/ Facility in Charge.
Duties and responsibilities at this level will entail:-
- Receive, store, disperse and dispense pharmaceuticals and related medical supplies in accordance with standard operating procedures and legal/regulatory requirements.
- Prepare and label doses, compounds and unit-dose packs as required.
- Maintain accurate inventory records, stock control, stock rotation and conduct regular stock counts.
- Ensure proper storage conditions, temperature monitoring and handling of controlled drugs.
- Counselling patients on medicine use, dosage, side effects and adherence under supervision of a Pharmacist.
- Support outpatient and inpatient pharmacy services, including issuing medications and maintaining dispensing logs.
- Assist with procurement processes, ordering, and supplier liaison to ensure uninterrupted drug supply.
- Participate in pharmacy audits, reporting of medicine errors, pharmacovigilance and quality improvement activities.
- Supervise and mentor pharmacy support staff and students where applicable.
- Maintain pharmacy records, manage expiry and disposal of expired/unusable medicines according to policy.
- Support health information reporting and contribute to team meetings and trainings.
Qualifications or requirements (e.g., education, skills)
(b) Requirements for appointments
For appointments to this grade a candidate must have:-
- Kenyan Citizenship
- Diploma in Pharmaceutical Technology from a recognized institution;
- Registered and licensed with the Pharmacy and Poisons Board (PPB);
- Valid Pharmacy and Poisons Board practicing license; and
- Proficiency in computer applications and pharmacy information systems.

Salary Scale: The salary scale, allowances and other benefits attached to this position is determined by the Salaries and Remuneration Commission.
Terms of Service Permanent and Pensionable
Salary Basic Salary Scale: Ksh 28,620–37,100 p.m.
House Allowance: Ksh 3,850–4,500/= per month
Commuter Allowance: Ksh 4,000/= per month
Leave Allowance: As provided in the Civil Service
Annual Leave: 30 working days
Medical Cover: As provided by the County Government of Kisumu
Those with foreign Degrees should have them authenticated by Commission for University Education (CUE). In addition, during the interview, they will be required to submit their academic certificates authenticated by the issuing Institutions to the Board.
Chapter 6 requirements will only be required from successful applicants.
