Position Overview
Better Living Hospital invites applications from qualified, dedicated, and service-oriented individuals for the position of Pharmaceutical Technologist. The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring the efficient, safe, and ethical dispensing of pharmaceutical products while supporting the hospital’s mission of excellence in healthcare delivery.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Dispense prescribed medicines accurately and in a timely manner.
- Provide patient counseling on correct use of medications, dosage, side effects, and drug interactions.
- Maintain proper records of prescriptions, drug usage, and inventory.
- Ensure compliance with Kenya Pharmacy and Poisons Board (PPB) regulations and hospital pharmacy policies.
- Monitor drug storage conditions and ensure proper handling of medicines.
- Assist in procurement, receipt, and stock management of pharmaceutical supplies.
- Report and document adverse drug reactions and medication errors.
- Support clinical staff with drug-related information for patient management.
- Participate in health education and hospital quality improvement activities.
- Ensure proper disposal of expired and unusable drugs in compliance with guidelines.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Diploma in Pharmaceutical Technology from a recognized institution.
- Valid registration and current practicing license from the Pharmacy and Poisons Board (PPB).
- 1–3 years of post-qualification experience in a busy hospital or retail pharmacy setup.
- Strong knowledge of pharmacology, drug interactions, and dispensing practices.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- High level of integrity, accuracy, and attention to detail.
- Ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary healthcare team.
