Halcyon Healthcare Ltd is a leading healthcare facility located in Upperhill, 5th Avenue Office Suites, 7th Floor.

We are looking for a passionate and dynamic Phlebotomist to join our team.

Responsibilities

Qualification and requirements:

Certificate/Diploma in Phlebotomy/Medical lab science.

Ability to perform variety of routine blood drawing procedure.

Ability to obtain quality and sufficient samples.

At least 2 years working experience as a phlebotomist/phlebotomy field

• Report to the laboratory manager
• Visit the patient site and do phlebotomy on a request basis
• Record and hand over samples in a timely manner for the laboratory to process them
• Perform and manage quality control checks for all pre-analytical processes, consumables, and the environment.
• Arrange workplace with equipment and supplies required for efficient collection of samples.
• Generate labels for tests allocated by phlebotomy supervisor according to priority.
• Label sample bottles with printed labels-verify with online request.
• Verify identify of patient verbally or otherwise with sample bottle label.
• Instruct and provide information to patient about procedures, ask questions on fasting etc.
• Collect sample or hand over labelled bottle to patient with instruction on method of collection.
• Submit sample to technologist section for testing under confirmation of receipt of sample.
• Monitor tests allocated on daily basis and follow up on samples not received by technologists.
• Be familiar with standards and guidelines for collection of samples.
• Ensure the phlebotomy area is clean and request for supplies and equipment needs on a timely basis.
• Ensure segregation and proper disposal of all waste in the phlebotomy area with reference to the hospital policy on waste management.
