PIZZA CHEF

Job Purpose

The Pizza Chef is responsible for preparing and producing high-quality pizzas consistently, efficiently, and according to the establishment's recipes, standards, and presentation requirements.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare pizza dough according to approved recipes and techniques.
• Manage dough preparation, proofing, portioning, shaping, and storage.
• Prepare sauces, toppings, garnishes, and other pizza ingredients.
• Operate pizza ovens safely and effectively.
• Monitor oven temperatures and cooking times.
• Produce pizzas with consistent size, texture, flavour, and presentation.
• Maintain quality and consistency throughout service.
• Prepare the pizza station before service and clean it thoroughly after service.
• Monitor ingredient freshness and stock levels.
• Apply appropriate food storage and stock rotation procedures.
• Minimise food waste through effective portion control.
• Maintain high standards of food hygiene and sanitation.
• Clean and maintain pizza ovens, preparation surfaces, utensils, and other equipment.
• Work closely with other kitchen staff to ensure efficient service.
• Assist with menu development and pizza specials where required.
• Follow all health, safety, and food handling procedures.

Requirements

• Relevant culinary training is preferred.
• Minimum 3 years' experience as a Pizza Chef or in a similar specialist culinary role.
• Proven experience in a high-end restaurant, hotel, or hospitality environment.
• Strong knowledge of pizza dough preparation and oven techniques.
• Good understanding of food safety and hygiene.
• Excellent attention to detail and consistency.
• Ability to work efficiently under pressure.
