Background

The United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) is seeking a Policy Coherence and Integration Analyst to join its team in Nairobi. This role is crucial for ensuring that environmental considerations are integrated across all relevant UN policies and programs, promoting a coherent approach to sustainable development.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze existing and proposed policies to identify potential impacts on environmental goals.
  • Develop recommendations for policy adjustments to enhance coherence and integration of environmental objectives.
  • Facilitate dialogue and collaboration among different UN entities to foster policy coherence.
  • Support the development and implementation of tools and frameworks for policy integration.
  • Prepare reports, briefs, and presentations on policy coherence and integration issues.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Advanced university degree (Master’s degree or equivalent) in environmental science, environmental policy, international relations, public policy, or a related field.
  • A first-level university degree in combination with two additional years of relevant work experience may be accepted in lieu of an advanced university degree.
  • A minimum of 5 years of progressively responsible experience in policy analysis, environmental policy, sustainable development, or a related area.
  • Proven experience in policy coherence and integration is desirable.
  • Excellent analytical, research, and writing skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a multicultural environment.
  • Proficiency in English is required. Knowledge of other UN languages is an asset.

This is a consultant-level position. The duty station is Nairobi, Kenya.
