Background
The International Livestock Institute (ILI) is a leading research organization dedicated to improving livestock productivity and sustainability in developing countries. We are seeking a motivated and organized Procurement and Purchasing Assistant to join our team.
Responsibilities
The Procurement and Purchasing Assistant will be responsible for:
- Assisting in the procurement of goods and services in accordance with ILI policies and procedures.
- Preparing purchase requisitions, purchase orders, and other procurement documents.
- Obtaining quotations from suppliers and evaluating bids.
- Maintaining procurement records and ensuring their accuracy.
- Liaising with suppliers and internal departments to resolve procurement-related issues.
- Assisting in inventory management and stock control.
- Performing other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Requirements
The ideal candidate will possess:
- A Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Procurement, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Proven experience in procurement or purchasing, preferably in a research or non-profit setting.
- Knowledge of procurement principles and best practices.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Experience
A minimum of 1-2 years of relevant experience is required.
Work Environment
This is a full-time position based at our headquarters in Nairobi, Kenya. ILI offers a dynamic and collaborative work environment with opportunities for professional development.
