About the role

Apeiro is seeking a Product Manager – Claims Ecosystem responsible for executing the product roadmap and coordinating delivery of claims management capabilities supporting reimbursement, adjudication, provider and payer workflows. The role is essential to coordinating the successful delivery and continuous improvement of the organization's claims platform by translating product strategy into executable initiatives, managing stakeholder requirements, and ensuring timely, high-quality releases.

What you'll do

  • Support the execution of the Claims Ecosystem product roadmap in alignment with organizational objectives and business priorities.
  • Manage, prioritize, and maintain the product backlog in collaboration with the Product Owner to ensure timely delivery of high-value features.
  • Gather, analyze, and document business requirements from providers, payers, operations teams, regulators, and other key stakeholders.
  • Translate business requirements into user stories, functional specifications, acceptance criteria, and release plans.
  • Work closely with Engineering, Quality Assurance, and Business Analysis teams to ensure product requirements are clearly understood and successfully implemented.
  • Coordinate Agile ceremonies including sprint planning, backlog refinement, sprint reviews, and retrospectives.
  • Coordinate User Acceptance Testing (UAT), defect management, regression testing, and production deployments.
  • Support the implementation and enhancement of claims adjudication, eligibility verification, reimbursement, prior authorization, and provider payment workflows.
  • Collaborate with Engineering teams to support integrations with Kenya's Health Information Exchange (HIE), Electronic Medical Records (EMRs), claims engines, payment platforms, insurers, and external healthcare stakeholders.
  • Monitor product performance, user feedback, and operational metrics to identify enhancement opportunities and drive continuous improvement.
  • Track product delivery milestones, dependencies, risks, and issues, ensuring timely escalation where required.
  • Ensure compliance with healthcare regulations, payer requirements, security standards, and data privacy policies.
  • Prepare release documentation, product documentation, user guides, and training materials to support successful product adoption.
  • Support change management initiatives and facilitate smooth transition of new product features into production.
  • Build and maintain strong working relationships with Product Owners, Engineering, Operations, Finance, Compliance, healthcare providers, payers, and regulatory stakeholders.
  • Communicate product progress, delivery status, risks, and upcoming releases to stakeholders and leadership.

What we're looking for

  • Bachelor's degree in Health Informatics, Business Administration, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3–5 years of Product Management experience supporting healthcare, insurance, digital health, or enterprise technology solutions.
  • Experience delivering digital products from requirements gathering through implementation and continuous improvement.
  • Experience with healthcare claims processing, reimbursement, eligibility verification, prior authorization, or payer-provider workflows.
  • Strong understanding of Agile product management methodologies and Scrum delivery practices.
  • Experience managing product backlogs using Jira, Azure DevOps, Productboard, or similar platforms.
  • Experience writing user stories, acceptance criteria, functional requirements, and release documentation.
  • Experience coordinating User Acceptance Testing (UAT), defect management, and production releases.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience working with cross-functional teams including Engineering, Quality Assurance, Operations, Finance, and Compliance.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities while delivering products in a fast-paced Agile environment.

Nice to have

  • Experience working with healthcare claims administration, payer platforms, or health insurance systems.
  • Familiarity with healthcare interoperability standards including HL7, FHIR, and EDI X12 transactions.
  • Experience supporting integrations with EMRs, Health Information Exchanges (HIE), payment gateways, and insurer platforms.
  • Professional certifications such as Certified Scrum Product Owner (CSPO), Professional Scrum Product Owner (PSPO), or SAFe Product Owner/Product Manager.
  • Experience working within healthcare financing, health insurance, or digital health environments.
  • Familiarity with analytics and reporting platforms such as Microsoft Power BI or Tableau.
  • Basic understanding of APIs, SQL, and system integration concepts.
  • Knowledge of Kenya's healthcare ecosystem, including the Social Health Authority (SHA), Digital Health Agency (DHA), and Ministry of Health initiatives.
