Production Supervisor-Wood Industry at Summit Human Resource & Marketing Consultant

Responsibilities or duties

To ensure production targets are achieved in line with the correct product specifications and quality parameters and to ensure the smooth running of the production processes, account for production wastage on shift.

To take full responsibility for the shift in terms of management of staff, ensure attendance of all persons on shift, and the correct number of persons as required as per production plan.

To take full responsibility for the quality of the product that is produced within the shift in line with the company’s quality systems and product specifications.

Manage, develop and motivate direct reporting staff. Handle grievances and discipline issues amongst the staff in accordance with the Company policies.

Monitor, measure, and report on production-related process performance and general issues.

Ensure all relevant communication is transmitted adequately and effectively to all members of staff in the shift.

To ensure that Health and Safety rules and regulations are adhered to during the shift and all matters relating to this are dealt with in line with the company's Health and Safety policy and reported to relevant authorities.

Problem-solving, and troubling shooting skills are used to ensure that all team members can identify root causes and take fast effective action to resolve the challenges at hand.

To work closely with other Shift Supervisors and ensure effective production handover.

To ensure that staff training for required skills are met for current and future demands of the department.

To have an active role in the company’s continuous improvement plan to achieve future growth within the company.

Maintain housekeeping standards throughout the shift to ensure a clean and safe workplace.

To ensure that company resources are used effectively to ensure the best-operating costs.

Being able to make appropriate decisions and consult your head of the department where required.

Manage the workflow as directed by the Production Manager.

Any other duties that may be assigned from time to time.

Assist the Production Manager to implement procedures for ISO QMS, OH&S, EMS, and EnMS.

Qualifications or requirements (e.g., education, skills)

KEY OUTPUTS / ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Daily reports.
  • 2 hourly production reports.
  • Achieved production targets.
  • Minimum production wastages.
  • Meet quality parameters and product specifications.
  • Efficient Staff allocation and utilization.
  • Good housekeeping.
  • Worker safety.

SPECIFICATIONS/ COMPETENCIES

Education: Minimum ‘O’ Level or Diploma in Engineering or Business Management

Preferred skills/ Knowledge required for the job:

  • Degree in a Technical field with at least 1 year’s experience in manufacturing
  • Computer literate
  • People management
  • Good communication skills
  • Good analytical skills

Experience needed

Experience:

  • 2-year experience in a similar position and similar manufacturing environment.
