Background

The United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) is the leading environmental authority in the United Nations system. It sets the global environmental agenda, promotes the coherent implementation of the environmental dimension of sustainable development within the UN system and serves as an authoritative advocate for the global environment.

Responsibilities

The Programme Evaluation Specialist will be responsible for:

  • Leading and conducting evaluations of UNEP programmes and projects.
  • Developing evaluation frameworks, methodologies, and tools.
  • Managing evaluation teams and ensuring the quality of evaluation deliverables.
  • Disseminating evaluation findings and recommendations to relevant stakeholders.
  • Contributing to the improvement of UNEP's evaluation policies and procedures.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • Advanced university degree (Master's degree or equivalent) in environmental science, development studies, public administration, or a related field.
  • A first-level university degree in combination with an additional two years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.
  • Proven experience in programme evaluation, including experience with various evaluation methodologies and approaches.
  • Strong analytical, research, and report writing skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience working with international organizations or in the UN system is desirable.

Experience

A minimum of 5 years of relevant professional experience in programme evaluation is required.

This is a home-based position.
