Background
The United Nations Human Settlements Programme (UN-Habitat) is the United Nations agency mandated to promote sustainable urban development and human settlements globally. It is the focal point for urbanization and human settlements within the UN system. UN-Habitat works with governments and local partners to build a better urban future.
The Turkana Water Infrastructure Improvement Project (TWIIP) aims to improve access to safe and sustainable water resources for the population of Turkana County, Kenya. This project addresses critical water scarcity issues and aims to enhance the resilience of communities to climate change impacts.
Responsibilities
The Project Support Assistant will provide administrative and logistical support to the TWIIP project team. Key responsibilities include:
- Assisting in the planning and organization of project activities, meetings, and workshops.
- Maintaining project documentation, records, and databases.
- Providing logistical support for travel arrangements, accommodation, and venue bookings.
- Assisting with the preparation of project reports, presentations, and correspondence.
- Liaising with internal and external stakeholders as required.
- Supporting the procurement process for goods and services.
- Performing other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Experience
The ideal candidate will possess:
- A high school diploma or equivalent. A diploma or degree in a relevant field is an asset.
- Proven experience in administrative support, project assistance, or a related role.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Experience working with UN or other international organizations is desirable.
Additional Information
This is a consultancy position. The duration of the contract will be specified in the offer of appointment.
