Job Purpose
To provide engineering leadership through the effective management of maintenance, utilities, reliability, plant assets, and continuous improvement initiatives to ensure safe, efficient, and cost-effective manufacturing operations.
Key Responsibilities
Maintenance & Reliability
- Develop and implement preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance programs.
- Monitor equipment performance and improve plant reliability.
- Lead root cause analysis (RCA) investigations and implement corrective actions.
- Track and improve MTBF and MTTR.
- Implement condition-monitoring techniques and reliability-centered maintenance.
Utilities Management
- Manage all plant utilities including boilers, air compressors, refrigeration systems, steam systems, power distribution, water treatment, and waste water treatment facilities.
- Ensure uninterrupted utility services and monitor consumption for optimization.
- Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements.
Spare Parts & Inventory
- Ensure availability of critical spare parts.
- Monitor consumption and inventory levels; review variances and implement corrective actions.
- Collaborate with procurement for timely acquisition of engineering materials.
Engineering Projects & CAPEX
- Plan, coordinate, and implement engineering projects including equipment installation, modification, commissioning, and plant expansions.
- Develop technical specifications and manage projects within approved budgets and timelines.
Safety, Food Safety & Compliance
- Promote a culture of safety and ensure compliance with OSHA, food safety (GMP), and environmental regulations.
- Conduct safety audits and implement corrective actions.
Continuous Improvement
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives to improve plant efficiency.
- Implement Lean Manufacturing, TPM, and 5S methodologies.
- Develop and implement strategies to improve OEE.
Team Leadership & People Management
- Lead, coach, and develop the engineering and maintenance team.
- Conduct performance appraisals and identify training needs.
- Develop an Engineering Skill Matrix and conduct competency assessments.
Budget & Financial Management
- Prepare and manage the Engineering and Maintenance budget.
- Ensure maintenance spending is controlled within budget.
Documentation & Systems
- Maintain accurate equipment histories, maintenance records, and breakdown reports in SAP or approved systems.
- Prepare and submit engineering performance reports.
Qualification and Experience
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Mechatronics, or Industrial Engineering.
- Registration with relevant engineering professional body is an added advantage.
Experience
- 7–10 years of engineering experience within an FMCG manufacturing environment.
- At least 5 years of experience in confectionery manufacturing.
- Experience managing high-speed production lines.
Technical Skills
- Hands-on experience with confectionery manufacturing equipment.
- Knowledge of preventive, predictive, and reliability-centered maintenance.
- Experience with utilities management (boilers, compressors, refrigeration, water treatment).
- Knowledge of TPM, Lean Manufacturing, and 5S methodologies.
- Experience with SAP maintenance modules.
- Strong troubleshooting and RCA skills.
- Ability to interpret mechanical drawings and electrical schematics.
