The Quantity Surveyor will be responsible for cost planning, BOQ preparation, pricing, and financial control of interior fit-out projects, ensuring accuracy, efficiency, and profitability across all stages.

MANDATORY REQUIREMENTS

Applicants must meet ALL of the following criteria:

  • Minimum 4 years proven experience in interior design and fit-out projects
  • Experience working with reputable interior design firms or established contractors
  • Strong understanding of:
    • Joinery works (kitchens, wardrobes, cabinetry)
    • Gypsum ceilings, wall finishes, and decorative elements
    • Interior electrical and plumbing coordination
  • Demonstrated ability to:
    • Prepare accurate BOQs from drawings and 3Ds
    • Conduct market rate analysis and sourcing
    • Generate speculative estimates and detailed cost breakdowns
    • High proficiency in Excel and BOQ preparation tools

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Preparation of Bills of Quantities (BOQs) from approved designs
  • Development of accurate cost estimates and pricing structures
  • Coordination with design, procurement, and project teams
  • Supplier sourcing and price comparisons
  • Monitoring project costs and ensuring budget control
  • Supporting procurement and material planning
  • Preparation of detailed labour allocation lists per project phase
  • Development of structured material schedules aligned to execution sequence
  • Ability to break down projects into:
    • Demolition
    • First fix (electrical & plumbing)
    • Ceilings & partitions
    • Finishes (tiling, painting)
    • Joinery & installations

IDEAL CANDIDATE

  • Detail-oriented with strong analytical skills
  • Efficient, organized, and able to handle multiple projects
  • Strong communication and coordination ability
  • Commercially aware with a focus on cost efficiency and profitability
  • Practical understanding of site execution and sequencing

COMPENSATION

  • Net Salary: KSh 60,000 – 80,000 per month
  • Performance-based incentives to be discussed based on output
  • Preparation of Bills of Quantities (BOQs) from approved designs
