About the internship
An internship at the Danish Embassy in Nairobi offers plenty of opportunities and gives you the opportunity to gain insight into Danish diplomacy and to test your skills in an international environment. As an intern, you will be an integral part of the department/team you are assigned to, and you will be assigned a supervisor in the department/team. The specific tasks that you will be responsible for vary depending on which department/team you are assigned to.
KENYA: Regional, Refugee and Humanitarian Affairs, Ref.nr. POL-2
- As an intern in the team for Regional, Refugee and Humanitarian Affairs at the Embassy of Denmark in Nairobi, you will have a central role in the development and implementation of the Embassy's development cooperation within refugee issues, as well as within trade and economic development in Kenya and the region.
- Among other things, you will contribute to the work with the Danish program Future Refugee Response, which focuses on fostering long-term solutions to displacement in collaboration with Danish foundations and the Kenyan government.
- In addition, you will be involved in the implementation and monitoring of a new regional free trade program with a focus on strengthening economic development, for which the embassy is responsible.
- The tasks will include the preparation of background notes, minutes and reports, communication with Danish and local partners, as well as planning and holding workshops, meetings, field visits and events.
- You will also assist the team in connection with high-level visits and other diplomatic activities.
- The position requires good analytical skills, independence and a strong interest in development cooperation, humanitarian efforts and geopolitics.
