Background
Prior to 1974, the Ministry of Water and Irrigation was a department in the Ministry of Agriculture. After this year, the Ministry was constituted and remained thus till 1992 when it Was merged with other departments to form the Ministry of Land Reclamation and Regional Development. After 1998, the Ministry was merged to form the Ministry of Water Resources.
Job Description
The Registered Nurse, KEWI 7 reports to the Senior Registered Nurse KEWI 6.
Person Specifications
For appointment to this grade an officer must have:
- Served for a cumulative period of six (6) years relevant work experience, three (3) of which should have been in the grade of Registered Nurse II or in a comparable position;
- Diploma in any of the following disciplines; Kenya Registered Community Health Nursing, Kenya Registered Nursing, Kenya Registered Nursing/Mental Health and Psychiatry or its equivalent qualification from a recognized institution;
- Registration Certificate issued by the Nursing Council of Kenya;
- Valid practicing license from Nursing Council of Kenya;
- Proficiency in computer applications; and
- Shown merit and ability as reflected in work performance and results.
In addition to the above indicated requirements, applicants will be required to meet the requirements of Chapter Six (6) of the Constitution of Kenya on Leadership and Integrity.
The following clearances will be required from successful candidates upon offer of job and not at the application stage:
- Certificate of Good Conduct;
- Clearance from the Ethics and Anti – Corruption Commission;
- Certificate of Compliance from the Higher Education Loans Board (HELB);
- Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) Tax Compliance Clearance; and
- Certificate of Clearance from the Credit Reference Bureau (CRB).

- Assessing, planning and implementing nursing interventions;
- Evaluating patient's outcomes;
- Providing healthcare education and counselling to patients/clients on identified health needs;
- Referring patients and clients appropriately;
- Participating in patients' referrals procedures;
- Facilitating patients' admission and initiating discharge plans;
- Documenting and maintaining relevant records;
- Facilitating and implementing recommendations on patients care plans;
- Participating in multidisciplinary health teams on patients care management;
- Preparing periodic reports;
- Ensuring a tidy and safe clinical environment;
- Collecting and compiling data related to nursing services; and
- Identifying and assessing risks in work place.
