Research Assistant
Purpose of position:
The Research Assistants will support study implementation through participant recruitment, clinical procedures, retinal imaging, sample collection, follow-up and accurate real-time data entry using REDCap, in compliance with study protocols and Good Clinical Practice (GCP).
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assist in identifying and directing potentially eligible participants at the health facility to the study room in line with the study procedures.
- Support smooth participant flow during study visits, ensuring orderly movement through study procedures
- Enter study data into REDCap as guided, ensuring accuracy and timely submission of information
- Maintain and update simple study registers and tracking logs for screening, visits and follow-up of the study participants.
- Make reminder calls or messages to participants regarding upcoming study appointments and visits
- Follow up participants who miss scheduled visits to support retention and reduce loss to follow-up
- Assist with participants time/transport reimbursement and other duties as assigned.
- Assist in preparation, organization, and safekeeping of study materials, forms and workspace
- Support community mobilization activities in collaboration with community health promoters when required
- Follow instructions from supervisors at all times and maintain strict confidentiality of participant information.
Job Specifications:
- Either a Diploma in Community Health Nursing (KRCHN), Public Health, or related field
- At least one (1) year of continuous clinical experience with ANC, Maternity and Rural health experience.
- Experience in research and as a community health officer will an added advantage
- Basic computer literacy, with willingness to learn REDCap data entry systems
- Good communication and interpersonal skills suitable for community and facility engagement
- Ability to work effectively in both facility and community settings
- Willingness to learn, follow instructions, and work under supervision
- Previous experience in research or health-related programs is an added advantage
