Role Overview
Our client is looking for a Risk Control Specialist based in Nairobi, Kenya, to lead risk management initiatives across their device financing business. This full-time role requires hands-on experience in mobile phone financing or digital lending to oversee the entire financing lifecycle, from customer acquisition to asset recovery. The primary objective is to develop robust risk policies, strengthen fraud prevention, optimize collection strategies, and collaborate with technical teams to enhance risk control systems.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop, implement, and continuously improve risk management frameworks and standard operating procedures.
- Design and execute customer verification, identity authentication, and fraud screening processes.
- Analyze repayment behavior and delinquency trends to identify emerging portfolio risks.
- Support the design of collection strategies and oversee compliant asset recovery processes.
- Collaborate with technical teams to integrate credit data sources and fraud detection tools.
- Identify system vulnerabilities and recommend enhancements to minimize operational and credit risk.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Risk Management, Business Administration, Economics, or a related field.
- Minimum 3–5 years of experience in device financing, digital lending, fintech, or consumer finance risk management.
- Deep understanding of the full phone financing process, including onboarding, collections, and device management systems.
- Proven track record of developing risk policies, control frameworks, and operational SOPs.
- Strong analytical skills with experience interpreting portfolio data and risk metrics.
- Experience working closely with collections teams and dedicated risk technology solutions.
