ROOM STEWARD

Job Title: Room Steward
Department: Housekeeping
Reports To: Housekeeping Supervisor / Executive Housekeeper

Job Purpose

To ensure guest rooms and assigned public areas are cleaned, maintained, and presented to the highest standards of cleanliness, comfort, and hospitality, contributing to an exceptional guest experience.

Key Responsibilities

• Clean and service guest rooms according to established housekeeping standards.
• Change bed linen, towels, and replenish guest amenities.
• Dust, vacuum, mop, and sanitize guest rooms and bathrooms.
• Inspect rooms for maintenance issues and report defects promptly.
• Ensure all assigned rooms are ready before guest check-in.
• Respond promptly to guest requests related to housekeeping services.
• Maintain housekeeping carts and cleaning equipment in good condition.
• Handle lost and found items in accordance with hotel procedures.
• Observe health, safety, and hygiene standards at all times.
• Assist with deep cleaning and other housekeeping duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Experience

• Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) or equivalent.
• Certificate in Housekeeping or Hospitality Management is an added advantage.
• At least 1 year of housekeeping experience in a hotel or hospitality establishment is preferred.
• Knowledge of cleaning chemicals and equipment.
