The International Livestock Research Institute (ILRI) is a CGIAR research centre that aims to improve food security by increasing the productivity and sustainability of livestock. ILRI works in partnership with others to help reduce poverty, improve diets and food security, and enhance the livelihoods of millions of people in developing countries.

Responsibilities or duties

The scientist will be responsible for conducting research on livestock genetics and breeding, developing and implementing new breeding strategies, and disseminating research findings to stakeholders.

Qualifications or requirements (e.g., education, skills)

The ideal candidate will have a PhD in Animal Science, Genetics, or a related field, with a strong publication record and experience in quantitative genetics and statistical analysis. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are also required.

Experience needed

A minimum of 5 years of post-doctoral research experience in livestock genetics and breeding is required.
