Job Description for Security Officer

• Supervising the management of security functions office,
• Ensuring the serviceability of electronic security surveillance appliances plus regular testing of alarm equipment;
• Carry out administrative duties in the unit such as fire drills;
• Investigating cases relating to fraud, accidents, loss of property and make the necessary reports;
• Represent the institution in court when necessary;
• Maintaining close liaison with police on security information and follow up court cases;
• Ensuring effective security is maintained for University property, staff and students;
• Welfare matters and supervision of staff, staff training and capacity building; and
• Any other duties as may be assigned by a Senior Officer.

Job Requirement for Security Officer

• Bachelor’s Degree in a security related field from a recognized institution
• Worked in disciplined/uniformed forces as an Inspector for at least five (5) years.
• A clean record of discharge from the uniformed forces
• Demonstrate outstanding administrative ability in controlling security attendants
• Physical and mental fitness
• Good knowledge of Information Communications Technology
• Has acquired skills and knowledge in firefighting and rescue or prevention and protection
• Valid driving license
• Fulfilled the requirements of Chapter Six of the Constitution of Kenya

Experience in Months: 60

Level of Education: bachelor degree
