Qualifications or requirements (e.g., education, skills)
- Master's degree in any of the following fields, Public Health, Veterinary Medicine, Epidemiology, Clinical Studies, or a related field.
- PhD in Environmental Science or Agricultural Science or a related field.
- Demonstrated leadership in project coordination involving multiple stakeholders, including academic institutions, government agencies, local communities, and international donors.
- Strong understanding of zoonotic disease surveillance, outbreak investigation, and health systems strengthening in pastoralist or rural communities.
- Experience ensuring compliance with research protocols, ethical standards, and Good Clinical Practice (GCP) and/or Good Laboratory Practice (GLP).
- Ability to oversee and support capacity-building initiatives for local research and health personnel.
- Competence in quality assurance, data integrity, and monitoring of project performance indicators.
- In-depth knowledge of Isiolo County’s health and operational landscape is an added advantage.
- Strong commitment to equity, ethics, and community engagement in research.
- Ability to work independently and travel frequently to project sites.
Experience needed
At least 10 years’ experience managing complex, donor-funded health or research projects in low-resource, multi-site settings, with a focus on arid and semi-arid regions, including oversight of diverse field teams and cross-functional coordination.
Proven experience coordinating the implementation of field-based research projects.
