About UN‑Habitat

UN‑Habitat is mandated by the UN General Assembly to promote socially and environmentally sustainable and resilient towns and cities. It is the focal point agency for urbanization and human settlement matters within the UN system. UN‑Habitat envisions well‑planned, well‑governed, and efficient cities and towns, with adequate housing, infrastructure, and universal access to employment and basic services.

• Prepare materials (presentations, maps, drawings) for workshops with city and county officials in Mali.
• Draft, revise, and complete planning materials (spatial analysis, drawings, reports).
• Participate in technical missions if required.
• Collaborate closely with the Urban Lab team, Regional Office for Africa West HUB, and Mali Country Office.
• Report to the Programme Management Officer of Urban Lab.

• Strong experience in participatory planning processes and stakeholder engagement.
• Fluency in English required; fluency in French or Spanish desirable.

• Advanced university degree (Master’s or equivalent) in Architecture, Urban Planning and Design, or related field relevant to sustainable urban development.
• A first‑level degree plus two additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of a Master’s.
• Minimum of five years’ progressively responsible professional experience in urban planning, territorial development, or strategic planning.
• Demonstrated expertise in preparing urban development strategies, spatial plans, and territorial assessments.
• Strong experience in participatory planning processes and stakeholder engagement.
• Experience working with local governments, national institutions, and international organizations.
