Job Context

This role is for a Sommelier position at an Ultra Luxury Beachfront Hotel in Mombasa. The Sommelier will be responsible for managing the wine program, providing expert recommendations to guests, and ensuring a high level of service in the hotel's dining establishments.

Responsibilities

Manage the wine cellar, including inventory, ordering, and storage.

Develop and maintain the wine list, ensuring a diverse and high-quality selection.

Assist guests in selecting wines that complement their meals and preferences.

Provide knowledgeable and attentive service to guests at the table.

Train restaurant staff on wine knowledge and service standards.

Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations regarding alcohol service.

Qualifications

Proven experience as a Sommelier or in a similar role within a luxury hospitality environment.

Extensive knowledge of wines, spirits, and other beverages.

Certification from a recognized sommelier society (e.g., Court of Master Sommeliers, WSET) is highly desirable.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.

Strong understanding of food and wine pairing.
