JOB PURPOSE
To manage, control, and safeguard all construction materials, tools, and equipment on-site, ensuring accurate stock levels, proper issuing, and timely replenishment to support smooth project execution.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
A. Material Receiving & Verification
- Receive all construction materials delivered to site and verify quantities and quality against LPOs and delivery notes.
- Inspect materials for damage or defects and report discrepancies immediately.
- Ensure all deliveries are recorded in the delivery register and acknowledged by relevant parties.
B. Inventory Management & Documentation
- Maintain up-to-date stock records for all materials, tools, and consumables.
- Update stock cards and digital systems immediately after every movement (receipts or issues).
- Prepare daily stock reports and submit them to the Site Supervisor and Procurement Officer.
- Monitor material usage and forecast shortages to avoid project delays.
C. Issuing Materials & Tools
- Issue materials strictly based on approved requisition forms from engineers or supervisors.
- Track issuance of tools and ensure all borrowed tools are returned in good condition.
- Maintain a register for tool allocation and usage.
D. Store Organization & Safety
- Ensure all materials are stored properly, safely, and in an orderly manner.
- Implement first-in, first-out (FIFO) for materials with expiry considerations (e.g., cement, chemicals).
- Keep the store clean, secure, and accessible only to authorized personnel.
- Report damaged, expired, or obsolete materials immediately.
E. Compliance & Security
- Enforce strict access control to the store area.
- Participate in internal audits and ensure compliance with company procedures.
- Prevent loss, theft, or misuse of company property through proper record-keeping and security measures.
QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS
Education:
Certificate or Diploma in Supply Chain, Procurement, Storekeeping, or related field.
Experience:
- Minimum 1–2 years in storekeeping, preferably on a construction site.
- Familiarity with construction materials (cement, steel, sand, timber, fittings, plumbing, electrical items, etc.).
Skills:
- Strong organizational and record-keeping skills
- Proficiency in Excel or inventory software
- Good communication and reporting skills
- High level of integrity and responsibility
