At Nivishe Foundation, we believe in transforming communities through mental health awareness, community-led interventions, and empowering youth and women. Based in Kibra, Nairobi, our grassroots approach fosters real change in underserved communities.
The consultant will be responsible for designing and facilitating a comprehensive strategic planning process. The scope of work includes, but is not limited to, the following components:
Inception and Process Design
- Conduct an inception phase to clarify expectations, refine methodology, confirm timelines, and agree on deliverables.
- Develop a detailed work plan outlining key activities, milestones, roles, and responsibilities.
- Propose a participatory and inclusive strategic planning approach that balances depth, rigor, and feasibility.
Organisational and Contextual Analysis
- Conduct a comprehensive desktop review of relevant global, regional, and national trends related to mental health, psychosocial wellbeing, humanitarian and development contexts, community-based service delivery, leadership development, and systems strengthening.
- Review internal organisational documents, including program reports, evaluations, learning briefs, policies, governance documents, and financial information.
- Analyse Nivishe’s current strategic positioning, comparative advantage, and value proposition within the mental health ecosystem.
- Identify key risks, opportunities, gaps, and emerging issues affecting the organisation’s work and sustainability.
Required Qualifications and Experience
The consultant or firm should demonstrate:
- Proven experience leading strategic planning processes for NGOs, foundations, or social impact organisations;
- Deep expertise in mental health and psychosocial wellbeing across diverse and complex contexts;
- Strong understanding of humanitarian, development, and systems-change environments;
- Experience with results-based management, M&E integration, and learning organisations;
- Demonstrated capacity in organisational sustainability and business model analysis for social impact initiatives;
