Chogoria hospital was started by the Scottish missionaries back in 1922 with the help of Mr and Mrs. Irvine being in charge. Chogoria hospital is on a side-road which branches off Embu - Meru highway about 2km from the highway. Chogoria hospital was built in a serene environment around 200km north of Nairobi city. It is situated within the fast growing Chogoria township in Mwimbi division, Maara district in Tharaka - Nithi county.

The Supply Chain Manager is responsible for planning, coordinating, and overseeing all activities related to procurement, logistics, inventory, and distribution of medical and non-medical supplies. This role ensures that all supply chain processes are efficient, cost-effective, compliant, and aligned with the hospitals mission of delivering quality, affordable healthcare and training services guided by Christian values.

Responsibilities or duties

  • Oversee procurement processes including sourcing, supplier evaluation, contract negotiation, and vendor performance management to ensure timely and cost-effective acquisition of quality goods and services.
  • Maintain optimal stock levels through effective inventory control, proper storage, stock rotation, and accurate record-keeping to minimize wastage and stock-outs.
  • Coordinate efficient distribution of medical supplies and equipment across hospital units and satellite facilities, ensuring timely delivery and accountability.
  • Support budget preparation and monitor procurement costs, ensuring prudent resource utilization and identification of cost-saving opportunities.
  • Ensure adherence to policies, statutory requirements, and healthcare standards, and prepare accurate reports to support management decisions and audits.
  • Provide leadership to supply chain staff, promote teamwork, and collaborate with departments to support effective service delivery.
  • Uphold the hospitals mission, vision, and Christian values by promoting ethical practices and service excellence in all operations.

Qualifications or requirements (e.g., education, skills)

  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Public Health, or related field
  • Masters degree in a related field will be an added advantage.
  • Professional certification (e.g., CIPS, CSCP, KISM)
  • Membership in a professional body (e.g., CIPS, CSCP, KISM) and in good standing
  • A valid practicing license
  • Strong knowledge of healthcare procurement regulations and donor compliance.
  • Excellent analytical, negotiation, and leadership skills.
  • Proficiency in ERP systems and Microsoft Excel.
  • Integrity and ethical conduct.
  • Commitment to Christian values and the mission of the hospital.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure in resource-limited settings.

Experience needed

Minimum of eight (8) years relevant experience, with at least three (3) years in a managerial capacity, preferably in the healthcare sector
