Background

Job Purpose
The PDI Technician is responsible for conducting comprehensive, checklist-driven inspections on incoming new vehicle inventory. To ensure that vehicles are thoroughly inspected and if need be, diagnosed and repaired as per the set OEM standard and thereafter tested to ensure quality before release to customers.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Perform structured visual and physical checks of the vehicle’s exterior, interior, underbody, and engine bay according to OEM requirements and Standard Operating Procedures
- Carry out system healthy checks, diagnosis and take corrective action on new vehicles
- Check the functionality of all electrical components, including infotainment systems, advanced driver assistance systems and lighting.
- Inspect and ensure quality compliance on vehicles from body builders.
- Carry out road test to confirm the expected vehicle functionality, conduct standardized test drives to check steering, braking, transmission shifts, and engine performance while monitoring for any abnormal noises or vibrations
- Check vehicle fluids and ensure they are at the right levels.
- Carry out accessory installations on new vehicles – Chevrons, sump guards, bedliners, registration plates etc.
- Timely rescue operations for new vehicle breakdowns while in transit.
- Resolve new vehicle electrical issues at the workshop.
- Accurately complete PDI sheets, note any transit damage or manufacturer defects, and coordinate with the Aftersales department to handle necessary warranty repairs
JOB REQUIREMENT
Academic Qualifications
- A bachelor’s degree in automotive engineering or equivalent
- Diploma in Automotive Engineering or Advanced Trade Test qualification.
- Computer literate.
Experience
- Minimum of 5 years’ relevant work experience in the Automotive industry
- Experience in vehicle diagnostics and electrical systems.
- Experience in pre-delivery inspection most preferred
