Role Overview:

We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Theatre Nurse to join our surgical team. The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting surgeons and anesthetists during operations, ensuring high standards of safety, sterility, and patient care throughout the perioperative process.

Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and maintain the operating theatre and all surgical instruments before, during, and after procedures.
  • Assist the surgical team during operations, ensuring adherence to aseptic and sterile protocols.
  • Monitor patients’ vital signs and condition during the intraoperative and immediate postoperative period.
  • Maintain accurate records of procedures, instruments, and supplies used.
  • Ensure proper handling and care of surgical equipment and instruments.
  • Participate in infection prevention and control measures and theatre audits.
  • Support quality assurance, continuous improvement, and adherence to hospital policies and standards.

Qualifications:

  • Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing from a recognized institution.
  • Valid registration and practicing license with the Nursing Council of Kenya (NCK).
  • Minimum 1-2 years’ experience in theatre nursing (scrub and circulating roles).
  • Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) is an added advantage.
  • Strong knowledge of surgical procedures, infection control, and theatre protocols.

Skills and Competencies:

  • Excellent teamwork and communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and adherence to safety standards.
  • Ability to work efficiently in high-pressure environments.
  • Compassionate and professional approach to patient care.
  • High integrity, reliability, and commitment to quality service delivery.
