JOB DETAILS:
RECRUITMENT OF TRADE TESTING TEST DEVELOPERS, NIODERATORS, DRAWING EXPERTS AND ASSESSORS – 2018

The National Industrial Training Authority (NITA) is a regulatory body established under the Industrial Training Act, Cap 237 of the Laws of Kenya. It is responsible for assessing industrial training, testing occupational skills and awarding certificates including Government Trade Test Certificates among other functions. The Authority conducts trade testing in the months of April, August and December and other demand driven times, durations and locations each year.

Applications are invited from qualified persons who are interested in sewing as assessors for Proficiency, Skills Upgrading and National Trade Testing qualifications; Test Developers, Moderators, Drawing Experts and Assessors. All assessors who were previously recruited and are still interested MUST also apply. ALL Applicants MUST be persons having unquestionable and irreproachable integrity, trained and experienced in their areas of specialization. The selection shall be based on competency, professionalism, meritocracy and experience. The application form can be downloaded from NITA website (www.nita.go.ke ). Applicants are required to fill the application form in BLOCK LEITERS and attach a copy of their National Identification Card, copies of their academic and professional certificates (certified by a Commissioner of Oaths) and other relevant supporting documents.

Minimum Requirements:

  • E.A.C.E. /K.C.E. /K.C.S.E. or equivalent from a recognized institution;
  • Have academic and/or professional qualifications at [east one level above the qualifications for which the assessor is to test;
  • Be conversant with the content of the Assessment Guidelines in their Trade Area or field of specialization;
  • Experience in assessing competencies and providing training relevant to apprentice, post trade and regulatory training requirements across a geographically diverse candidature; trade and regulatory training requirements across a geographically diverse candidature;
  • Experience in programming and delivering training and assessment needs to apprentices, trainees, trades people and external customers;
  • Experience in the development of training and assessment resource materials against qualifications and units of competency;
  • Experience with, and understanding of, Verification of Competency (VOC) in the workplace
  • Demonstrated experience in the administration, data input, reporting and continual improvement requirements for assessing and training;
  • Working knowledge of Learning Management Systems (LMSs) and training-related databases as well as validation of training and competency-based assessment resource materials;
  • Minimum 5 years teaching / industrial working experience;
  • Certificate of good conduct;
  • Possession of a teaching or instructor certificate from a recognized institution and past experience as an examiner in the relevant skill area will be an added advantage.
