Background
Amotech Africa was established in the year 2012. Our core business is to provide reliable test and measurement solutions. We also have a lab that provides calibration and instrument repair services.
Job Summary
We are looking for a Training Lead to build and lead Amotech Africa's Training business unit. The successful candidate will establish the department, develop curricula from scratch and grow it into a revenue-generating function. Working closely with our in-house technical experts, OEM partners, the regional sales teams and the marketing team, the Training Lead will design, sell and deliver high-quality technical training programmes across all Amotech Africa countries — Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda, Rwanda, DRC and Ethiopia.
Responsibilities and Duties
- Establish the Training business unit — defining the operating model, processes, policies and quality standards aligned to existing company policies and ISO 9001:2015
- Conduct Training Needs Analyses (TNAs) for existing and prospective clients across all Amotech Africa regions to identify priority programmes.
- Develop all training curricula from scratch based on TNA findings, leveraging Amotech Africa's in-house technical expertise, OEM partner content, and industry best practice.
- Identify, onboard and coach internal subject-matter experts (engineers, lab staff, project leads) to serve as trainers and co-facilitators for relevant programmes, reducing dependency on OEM-only delivery.
- Own and deliver the Training business unit’s revenue target, driving year-on-year growth through proactive business development — identifying prospects, building relationships and closing training engagements.
- Package training offerings into clearly defined products with pricing, scope and outcomes that can be presented to clients by both the Training Lead and the regional sales teams.
- Work in close collaboration with the regional sales teams in Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda, Rwanda, DRC and Ethiopia to identify training opportunities, co-develop proposals and ensure the training calendar reflects demand across all markets.
- Support the sales team in client meetings, tender responses and proposals where training solutions form part of a broader Amotech Africa offering.
- Develop marketing materials, case studies, course brochures and digital content in collaboration with the Marketing & Communications team to promote training programmes across the region.
- Contribute to Amotech Africa's thought leadership — webinars, LinkedIn content, industry events — to build brand visibility and generate training leads.
- Manage the annual training calendar, coordinating scheduling with OEM partners, in-house trainers, regional sales teams and clients.
- Deliver classroom, practical/hands-on and on-site training programmes, maintaining high standards of learner experience and assessment rigour.
- Track and report training KPIs to the COO — revenue, gross margin, attendance, pass rates, client satisfaction, and regional pipeline.
- Maintain continuous professional development to stay current with the latest test, measurement and calibration technologies.
Competencies and Qualifications
- Technical Background – BSc. in Electrical Engineering, Electronics, Instrumentation, or a related field.
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in technical training, engineering, or a tests-and-measurement environment.
- Demonstrated ability to build training curricula from scratch— from Training Needs Analysis through to course delivery and assessment.
- Experience leveraging internal subject-matter experts as trainers and co-facilitators, not solely external or OEM resources.
- Familiarity with test & measurement equipment, calibration processes, or instrumentation (Megger, Fluke, FLIR, Anritsu or similar OEM products is an added advantage).
- Commercial mindset with a proven track record in business development — packaging, pricing and selling training solutions to B2B clients.
- Experience collaborating with sales and marketing teams to develop training propositions, proposals and promotional content.
- Strong presentation and facilitation skills — able to simplify complex technical concepts for varied audiences.
- Comfortable working across multiple countries in a matrixed environment; experience with regional sales collaboration is an advantage.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite; experience with LMS platforms is a plus.
- Goal-oriented self-starter who can work independently, manage a pipeline, and deliver against a revenue target.
- Experience working to ISO 9001:2015 quality management processes is an advantage.
