WAITER / WAITRESS
Job Purpose
The Waiter/Waitress is responsible for delivering professional, attentive, and personalised table service while ensuring guests receive an exceptional dining experience.
Key Responsibilities
- Welcome guests and provide professional, courteous service.
- Present menus and provide accurate information about food and beverages.
- Take guest orders accurately and communicate them to the kitchen and bar.
- Serve food and beverages according to established service standards.
- Ensure correct presentation, timing, and sequence of service.
- Monitor guest needs throughout the dining experience.
- Respond professionally to guest questions, requests, and concerns.
- Demonstrate good knowledge of menu items, ingredients, preparation methods, and dietary considerations.
- Make appropriate recommendations and assist guests with selections.
- Maintain clean, organised, and properly set tables.
- Process guest bills and payments accurately where required.
- Coordinate with kitchen, bar, and front-of-house colleagues.
- Handle guest complaints professionally and escalate issues when necessary.
- Maintain high standards of personal grooming, hygiene, and professional conduct.
- Follow food safety, hygiene, and responsible service procedures.
- Assist with opening and closing duties.
- Support special events, functions, and high-volume service periods.
Requirements
- Minimum 3 years' experience in a high-end hotel, restaurant, or hospitality environment.
- Experience in a 4- or 5-star establishment is strongly preferred.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong knowledge of food and beverage service.
- Professional appearance and manner.
- Ability to anticipate guest needs and deliver personalised service.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure.
- Strong teamwork and attention to detail.
