Requirements for Appointment
- MUST be a Kenyan Citizen
- Bachelors’ degree in Mining and Mineral Processing Engineering from a University recognized in Kenya.
- MUST have a post graduate Diploma in Gemology
- MUST have training in GIS and Remote Sensing preferably in mines and geology.
- Must have at least 8 years’ experience in public service and over 2 years as a senior superintending Inspector of Mines in the County.
- Must be a County gazetted inspector of mines.
- Ability to demonstrate administrative capability and understanding.
- Must be registered with a professional body/Association.
- Excellent in written and verbal communications and interpersonal skills.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Implementing national and county mining policies, regulations, and guidelines.
- Establishing and maintaining a county mineral database.
- Providing technical advisory services on mining operations.
- Supporting research and innovation in the mining sector.
- Promoting Public-Private Partnerships (PPP) in mining activities.
- Mapping and monitoring County mining zones.
- Facilitating prospecting, extraction, and sustainable mineral resource utilization.
- Creating awareness of mineral exploitation opportunities.
- Strengthening community participation and benefit-sharing in mining projects.
